Dr Sarah Gilbert
I work with people aged 18 or over (with no upper age limit) who are experiencing a variety of psychological difficulties including but not limited to anxiety, depression, stress, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obsessive compulsive (OCD) disorder. I recognise that these difficulties can be triggered by various life transitions and have worked with people who have experienced bereavements, retirement, changes in physical health, lifestyle changes, relationship difficulties and traumatic events.
I have a particular interest in supporting people experiencing emotional difficulties during pregnancy and following the birth of their child (for both mothers and fathers) and aim to provide psychological support to help overcome and adjust to some of the challenges that this life transition can sometimes present.
I have worked prior to and post qualification across various agencies, both within and outside of the NHS, for nearly 10 years within various specialities including child and adolescent mental health, learning disability services, adult and older adult mental health, neuropsychology and physical health. My doctoral thesis focussed upon both an individual's and carer's experience of living with Parkinson's disease.
I currently work within the NHS as a Senior Clinical Psychologist within an Older People’s Mental Health Service offering psychological assessment and intervention to individuals with a wide range of mental health difficulties. I also support individuals and their families following a diagnosis of dementia. Previous to this current role I have also worked within the Physical Health and Neuropsychology Team supporting individuals in adjusting to changes with their physical health.
There is the option of a reduced rate for those wishing to pay in advance for a block of a minimum of six therapy sessions which will start after the first assessment session.
I am very aware of budgetary constraints that may be a factor for some and if work can be completed in a shorter timeframe by adapting the goals of our sessions I will aim to do so. However this will be dependent on the nature of a client's difficulties, as this may not always be feasible.
Days of work
I am able to offer flexible evening or weekend appointments.
